as you are

These thoughts were inspired after reading (again) The Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning. (If you haven't had the opportunity to read this book...I highly recommend it!)

The lovesick father didn't even let the prodigal son get his "im sorry" speech out before he ran to him, embraced him and threw a party for him. Jesus didn't ask the woman caught in adultery if she was sorry before he told her that even he did not condemn her. The outrageous, scandalous love of God expressed thru Jesus says that He accepts us as we are, not as we should be. This undignified love is the sole stimulus that will change us from the inside out...and lead to a life of freedom!
